Meet Our Founder

Profile picture of Heartwired founder, Jim D'Angelo.

Jim D’Angelo founded Heartwired because of his core belief that we can do better —together.

His journey began in the United States Air Force, where he was honored with the John L. Levitow award, a distinction given to the top graduate recognized for exceptional leadership and performance.

This experience laid the foundation for his approach to leadership—one that values collaboration and collective strength. Jim pursued an undergraduate degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Colorado, further fueling his passion for understanding the dynamics of effective teamwork and the role of compassionate leadership in driving progress.

With over 20 years in various technical roles, from software development to executive positions, Jim has honed a leadership style that’s both curious and inclusive. He’s known for his ability to listen actively and engage team members in a way that values their collective ideas while also being able to move forward.

Values

Jim’s approach to leadership is grounded in empathy and integrity. He believes that by fostering a culture of openness and continuous learning, organizations can achieve both high standards and a compassionate work environment. Tools like Nonviolent Communication and Polarity Mapping are integral to his methodology, helping teams find balance and develop common language.

For Jim, life outside of work is not just a series of quiet moments but an extension of his values. Whether it’s exploring the outdoors through cross-country skiing, hiking, and bikepacking, or enjoying live music, these activities are seamlessly integrated into his life. They reflect his commitment to personal growth, adventure, and the joy of shared experiences.

Life Purpose Statement

Community is at the heart of all of Jim’s interests. Each of his hobbies is a way of connecting with others, building relationships, and strengthening the bonds within his community. This deep engagement reflects his belief in the power of collective effort and the importance of nurturing connections in every aspect of life.
